Lazy at work? Think again…

If you spend more time in work poking your friends on facebook or tweeting Gary Barlow then you may want to rethink your attitude.

A leaked report from Downing Street suggests that the law maybe changing making it easier to sack unproductive employees and “lazy workers” losing their benefits.

Now unless you want to spend more time at home watching Jeremy Kyle on your cute corner sofa scouring the internet for work then here are a few tips* on how to NOT lose your job…

1. Improve your performance. Yeah I know, that’s obvious. If you can’t improve your performance through selling more, achieving more etc etc then befriend a boss and go down that route.

2. Avoid procrastination. I’m the Queen of procrastination, I can turn the simple act of checking my twitter feed in to a mammoth tweet session resulting in several hours passing without so much as a cuppa tea.

3. Get a new job. Quit. Go out and do something you love doing. If you hate your job that much that you just can’t *do* it then stop job blocking and go find yourself something else. The jobless person taking over your position will be grateful and you’ll save yourself health issues in the near future.

* Clearly my role in life isn’t to work in the careers market and this is very much tongue in cheek! But still, be careful in work and turn twitter off!!

Have we lost our ability to gain a natural high?

OK so I’m not talking drug like highs here before you start giving me stories about sniffing permanent markers or scoffing enough chocolate to keep Cadbury in business for the next century but instead those little things that give us a natural “lift”.

I was listening to Anthony Davis on LBC last night talking about natural highs and how the younger generation seem to be losing that instinct and turning more towards consumer items, drink and drugs to get their highs instead of things like building dens or enjoying the scenery. Anthony said that he got his natural high from looking across London Bridge and absorbing the London atmosphere…

So it got me thinking…what is your natural high?

A few of mine:

Summer Evenings at the Beach

Fresh Flowers on my desk…

Enjoying a sunset

AutumnAs much as I love summer there’s something lovely about autumn (maybe it’s the relaxation that I no longer have to get my bingo wings out). The crisp fresh air and wrapping up against the cold is great.

Having a cuppa in a china cup

A walking on the beach in the rain

Indulging in “free” culture (art galleries, exhibitions etc)

Over to you…where do you get your natural high?

ps: I went to the Royal Court Of Justice for the first time EVER this week {I should add not for any criminal activity – purely social – honest} what an absolute amazing building. Unfortunately photography isn’t allowed inside the building so I can’t share any pictures but here are one or two I’ve found online.
